Cocoa Beach is known for space shuttles, spring break, beaches, surfing, and now Stand Up Paddle boarding. Cocoa Beach is quickly becoming a hot spot for SUP with both locals and visitors alike. With many paddling options – ranging from the surf of the Atlantic ocean, to the mangrove lined Indian and Banana Rivers, it is a stand up paddleboarding paradise. Many tourists to Cocoa Beach have observed people “Walking on water” and are hoping to experience this fun new sport while vacationing in Florida. A great way to learn the basics, see amazing scenery, experience cool Florida wildlife (think dolphins and manatee!), and have some amazing photos to share when you return home is to take a tour with SUP Eco Adventures (www.supecoadventures.com). A beautiful drive south on A1A takes you away from the hustle and bustle of Cocoa Beach and brings you to a nature lover’s paradise. SUP Eco Adventures launches from a historic site that truly takes you back to old Florida. With few people and numerous wildlife, the calm waters of Mullet Creek in the Indian River Lagoon is a great place to experience stand up paddle boarding!

With the winter months here in Melbourne Beach, Cocoa Beach and the Central East coast of Florida, we have an abundance of our local host—the dolphin. Although we can’t guarantee seeing dolphins during our paddle boarding tours, we do tend to see these amazing creatures just about every day when we are out on the water. Although, SUP Eco Adventures post photos and discussions about these dolphins, but we thought we would post a few fun facts about our friends.
Our river dolphins are Atlantic Bottlenose Dolphins, but they spend their entire live in the Indian River Lagoon.

So, if you would like the opertunity to see these amazing creatures, give SUP Eco Adventures a call at 321-507-6058 or drop us an email at supecoadventures@gmail.com. All our tours are by resevation only, to ensure we keep our groups nice and small and limit our footprint when we visit our local wildlife.

They are adapted to swim, fish and survive in the different waters of the Indian River Lagoon. For example, the waters of the Indian River Lagoon average only 3 or 4 feet deep. The dolphins have adapted to the swallow waters and can easily maneuver in the area.

When baby dolphins are first born, they actually have a small amount of fur, which they lose as they grow older.

Dolphins are found in temperate, tropical and subtropical water

On average can swim 2-4 mph, but can reach speeds of up to 20 mph
