Archie Carr Refuge

Archie Carr tours SUP Eco Adventures

SUP Eco Adventures’ tours run in a secluded area of the Space Coast on Florida’s Central East Coast.  We operate in within minutes of the Archie Carr National Wildlife Refuge.  The Archie Carr National Refuge is about 20 miles long between Melbourne Beach and Wabasso Beach at the south end of Brevard county.  The refuge was established in 1991 and named after Dr. Archie Carr and his extraordinary contribution to sea turtle conservation.  The refuge is a direct result of Dr. Carr bringing attention to the world’s declining turtle populations due to over-exploitation and loss of safe habitat.  The refuge protects the most significant area for loggerhead sea turtle nesting in the Western Hemisphere and the most significant area for green turtle nesting in North America.  This area 25-35% of all loggerhead and green sea turtle nests in the US.

If you are visiting the Space Coast during these summer months, take a few minutes to visit the Barrier Island Center to discover more about the Archie Carr National Refuge and the amazing sea turtles which use this amazing area for their nesting grounds every summer.  Then of course after visiting the Barrier Island Center contact SUP Eco Adventures at 321-507-6058, to arrange a tour on one of our stand up paddle boards.  On our 2 hour tour we’ll take you through some of the secluded mangroves where manatee and dolphin frequent.  We are located 30 minutes south of Cocoa Beach and 30 minutes north of Vero Beach which are a world apart from the crowded hustle and bustle of life.
