We recently moved to Melbourne Beach and after seeing so many people out on the water doing stand up paddle boarding, we were dying to try it! I looked around on-line for places that give lessons as we had never been on a board before. I found very positive reviews for Sup Eco Adventures and gave them a call. Dina was so friendly, helpful and

accomodating on the phone, I knew I had found the right place. I scheduled a one hour lesson for myself and my 7 year old daughter. We went for a morning lesson as the winds tend to be lighter and waters more calm. Dina and Fernando gave us a thorough lesson on land, and then Dina had my daughter ride with her at the start to get her comfortable and this was a great idea! I rode alone and Fernando stayed with me and explained basic paddling techniques, how to hold the paddle, how to turn etc. He let me go at my own pace and practice going around to get comfortable. After a bit on Dina’s board, my daughter got on her own board. Dina stayed with her the entire time and very patiently guided her along. They both told me that it was very important that my daughter have fun and enjoy the lesson – and did she EVER enjoy it! So much so that she went back for another lesson with my husband (he really wanted to try it also)! If you are interested in trying stand up paddle boarding, definitely give them a call. A one hour lesson is PERFECT to feel comfortable balancing on the board and to learn the basics. They are wonderful with children too. If you are visiting the area, this is really something to try. The lesson was on the Indian River Lagoon, in a shallow spot with calm waters. You may see a manatee or dolphin! Wear a bathing suit or something waterproof, go barefoot, wear a little bug spray and sunscreen and have fun! My daughter was trying Yoga poses on the board at her second lesson. She is hooked so it looks like we’ll soon be buying our own paddle boards and it will definitely be a fun way to spend time as a family while also getting a workout and enjoying nature. What’s not to love? Dina and Fernando will make you feel like old friends – very highly recommended. Just an overall wonderful experience.
